Privacy Policy
Chords of Awakening (“the game”) is made by Alexey Ignatov (“I”, “me”). This policy explains what information the game collects, why, and the choices you have. The short version: there are no accounts, no ads and no tracking across other apps. The game sends anonymous gameplay statistics and crash reports, and you can turn that off in Settings at any time.
What stays on your device
Your progress (levels, stars, stats, settings and practice history) is saved only on your device. It is not uploaded anywhere, and deleting the game deletes it.
What the game collects
To understand how the game is played and to fix problems, the game uses Google Firebase. With “Share anonymous usage data” turned on (the default), it sends:
- Gameplay events: for example which levels and story scenes you start and finish, the difficulty, how long they take, your accuracy and answer times, and which features you use (spells, sprites, the stats page). These help balance the levels and see whether they teach well.
- Crash and error reports: when the game crashes or hits an error, a report with technical details (where in the game it happened and the screens visited just before).
- Basic device and app information that Firebase collects automatically: device model, operating system version, app version, language, an approximate region (country) derived from your connection, and a random identifier Firebase creates for this installation of the game.
The game also downloads balance settings (Firebase Remote Config) so levels can be tuned without an app update. This uses the same installation identifier and sends no gameplay data.
What the game does not collect
- No name, email address, phone number, contacts or photos.
- No account or sign-in.
- No advertising identifier (IDFA), and no tracking across other apps or websites. The game shows no ads.
- No precise location.
- No microphone or audio recordings. You play on the on-screen fretboard.
How it is used
Only to improve the game: balancing difficulty, seeing where players get stuck or stop playing, checking that lessons help players improve, and fixing crashes. The data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared beyond the service providers below.
Service providers
The data is processed by Google as the provider of Firebase (Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Remote Config). See Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google Privacy Policy. Analytics data is kept for a limited time (at most 14 months) and crash reports for up to 90 days.
Your choices
- Turn it off: in the game, open Settings and switch off Share anonymous usage data. The game then stops sending analytics and crash reports.
- Ask for deletion: because the data isn't linked to you by name, I usually can't single it out, but I'm happy to help. Email me (below) and I'll do what I can, including with Google.
- Remove everything on your device by deleting the game.
Children
The game is suitable for all ages and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The anonymous statistics above can be turned off in Settings. If you believe a child's personal information was collected, please contact me and I'll delete it.
Beta versions
If you test the game through Apple's TestFlight, Apple may share your tester feedback, crash logs and the email you were invited with. That is covered by Apple's TestFlight terms and privacy policy.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
